Together, Trustees make sure the charity is wellmanaged, risks are assessed and mitigated, buildings and equipment are in goodworking order, and everyone follows legal requirements and Policy, Organisation andRules (POR). Their support helps other volunteers run a fantastic programme that givesyoung people skills for life (and experiences they’ll remember forever).
The Trustee Board supports the Group Scout Leader to provide the strategic leadership of the Group and ensure the effective running of the different Sections. The Group Scout Leader nominates the Group Chairman and their relationship is one of partnership and mutual support.
The Group Trustee Board aims to make sure that The Scout Group has the facilities and resources needed to deliver high quality Scouting in the Group. Their role includes:

The maintenance of the Group’s property and equipment to ensure it remains fit for purpose

The raising of funds and the administration of the Group’s finances in a responsible manner

The insurance of persons, property and equipment in the event of accident or loss
-
The arranging and publicising of Group events and participation at public occasions
-
Assisting with the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support, including encouraging parents and carers participating in Scouting activities
The Group Trustee Board also have certain critical responsibilities, namely:

Having a shared sense of purpose that follows the Scout Law & Promise,

Providing direction and leadership, putting our young people first

Taking collective responsibility for decisions and activities agreed by the Group Executive Committee

Being accountable to parents, carers, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers

Being accountable to the wider Scouting movement both within Essex and nationally, and to the wider local community
Members of the Group Trustee Board
The Group Trustee Board consists of people who are elected, co-opted or nominated onto the Committee and some people who are members because of their role in Scouting (the ex-officio members), these are:
